Changelog

Each version, its date, what changed, and the WeChat versions we tested it on.

Meow is a Mac app (Windows in preview) that answers your WeChat while you're away: from your own account, through WeChat for Mac, it replies to one-to-one chats and to group messages meant for you, and signs every reply as AI.

The first public version hasn't been released yet. Every release will be listed here with its date.

0.1.0 · not yet released

  • Mac: replies to one-to-one chats; groups (followed groups judged message by message, others answered when you're @-mentioned or quoted); public and private folders; remote commands; mail alerts (Gmail alerts and reply drafts, Outlook alerts); instructions in File Transfer; a contacts scan, so you can ask about your contacts.
  • Works with WeChat behind other windows: only opening another chat, a profile card or sending a file waits until you're away and brings WeChat forward.
  • The app's interface in Chinese or English, Chinese by default; the default signature follows it.
  • WeChat compatibility check: a read-only look at launch and whenever WeChat's version changes; if it can't read WeChat, sending pauses.
  • Models: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (the default for new installs) and V4 Pro; Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, Fable 5.1 and Haiku 5.5; other Anthropic-compatible endpoints. Settings → Assistant tests the key and shows this month's requests, tokens and estimated cost at list prices.
  • Dry run by default, with drafts under Drafts in the menu (memory only); it sends only with a license and the menu switched to Sending, and asks you to confirm the first time after each launch.
  • An AI signature on every reply: reword it, but it can't be removed.
  • Tested on WeChat for Mac 4.1.15, in Simplified Chinese and in English.
  • Windows preview (not available for download): tested with WeChat for Windows 4.1.15 on a real Windows PC, in Simplified Chinese and in English; not yet code-signed, mail alerts untested.
