Could my account be restricted?
It could. Meow operates WeChat for Mac through UI automation, which WeChat's terms don't allow, so an account may be restricted. We don't promise otherwise, and we offer no way around WeChat's checks.
Meow is a Mac app (Windows in preview) that answers your WeChat while you're away: from your own account, through WeChat for Mac, it replies to one-to-one chats and to group messages meant for you, and signs every reply as AI.
Why it could happen
Meow reads WeChat's window through macOS accessibility, reads screenshots to tell who wrote each message, and sends replies with mouse clicks and key presses. Software does this, not you.
WeChat's rules don't allow it. Its personal-account rules ban automating an account with unauthorised third-party software, and its security notice of January 2026 lists “using simulated key presses or automation scripts to control WeChat for automatic replies” as a violation. WeChat's measures range from limiting some features to suspending the account.
It logs in and sends through WeChat for Mac itself, so to WeChat it looks like an ordinary Mac. WeChat still watches how an account behaves, though: how fast it replies, how much it sends, how regular it is. Looking like a normal login is not the same as no risk.
What it never does
- No bulk messages. It answers one chat at a time, and only messages that came in.
- No adding friends, and no handling of friend requests.
- No Moments posts, likes or comments.
- No creating groups or adding people to them.
- No changes to WeChat itself: no modified app, no injected code, no private protocol.
- Nothing is sent until you've activated a license and switched the menu from Dry run to Sending.
- It works only the one account logged in on this Mac.
Its default pace
You can slow every one of these down: the idle wait in Settings → General, the rest in Settings → Replies.
Idle wait
It brings WeChat forward only after the keyboard and mouse have been idle this long, and never while you're in WeChat.
Delay before sending
Once a reply is ready it waits a random few seconds, so nothing goes out the instant a message lands.
Per chat
The most replies it sends to one chat in an hour.
Overall
The most replies it sends across all chats in an hour.
| Checks the chat list | About every 10 seconds, give or take 25% |
|---|---|
| Handles at most | The latest 5 unanswered messages |
| Answers only | Messages that arrived after your own last message |
| Groups | Followed groups: every new message is judged. Others: only when you're @-mentioned or quoted |
| Muted chats, official accounts | Never opened |
How to lower the risk
- Run it dry for a few days. Every draft is under Drafts in the menu: check what it would say and how often.
- Start with a WeChat account that matters less, not your most important one.
- Slow it down: a longer idle wait, lower hourly limits.
- Follow fewer groups, only the ones where people really need you.
- While it works, avoid heavy use of the same account on your other devices.
If your account is restricted
Stop Meow from the menu bar, then follow WeChat's instructions. Meow offers no way around a restriction. Within 14 days of purchase you can have a refund, no questions asked (refund policy).
What we don't promise
We don't promise any account is safe, and we won't build anything to evade WeChat's checks. If anyone promises you a tool like this can't get an account restricted, don't believe them. Using Meow means you understand and accept this risk (see the terms).
