Meow · AI assistant for WeChat

You there?A customer · 21:47Here.— Replied by AI assistant

Meow is a Mac app (Windows in preview) that answers your WeChat while you're away: from your own account, through WeChat for Mac, it replies to one-to-one chats and to group messages meant for you, and signs every reply as AI.

Hi, any slots this Saturday afternoon? We’d like a family portrait.
Hi! Joe is away from his desk. Per his price list, a 2-hour family session is 800 yuan with 20 retouched photos. He'll confirm Saturday as soon as he's back.— Replied by AI assistant
Read the price list. Replied.

One-to-one: it finds the quote in the price list in your public folder and replies, signed. Saturday is Joe’s call, so it says he’ll confirm.

Mac · macOS 14 or later · Apple silicon · From CNY 29, one-time payment

It answers your one-to-one chats and the group messages meant for you, quotes from your files, takes remote commands and flags important mail

Instant replies.
None of them by you.

One-to-one chats

One to three sentences, in the sender's language.

It replies as your AI assistant and makes no promises for you: meetings, prices and decisions get passed on. It is told not to guess; when unsure, it says you’ll confirm.

Every reply carries an AI signature. Asked directly, it says it’s an AI assistant.

Groups

In a group, it answers only what’s meant for you.

In groups you follow it judges every new message; other groups it opens only when you’re @-mentioned or quoted. Chatter between others and announcements get no reply.

Weekend hikingNot for you. No reply.Launch projectYou were @-mentioned. Replied.

Every check in a followed group is one model request, billed even when it stays quiet. A busy group is most of the bill.

Answers from your files

Drop your price list in a folder. It quotes for you.

The public folder can be used for anyone; the private folder only for contacts you mark as trusted. Anything that commits you waits for your say.

Reads text, Word, RTF, HTML, PDF and images; PDFs and images up to 10 MB each. DeepSeek's endpoint doesn't take PDFs.

When it needs current facts, it searches first and says where they came from.

DeepSeek and Claude can search; only Claude can open a page and read it. Up to 3 searches per reply, adjustable.

Remote commands

Send the quote to Mr. Wang, ask him to confirm by Wednesday
Done. The quote and your note went to Mr. Wang.— Replied by AI assistant

Say it in your own File Transfer chat, or from your other WeChat account, which it recognises by the ID on the profile card, never the nickname. Target chats must match by exact name; namesakes are refused.

Mail alerts

Ask for a reply and it writes a draft in Gmail. It never sends one.

Needs the Chrome extension. Gmail gets alerts and drafts, Outlook alerts only. Mac only. Alerts go to your other WeChat account.

Dry run by default: it drafts and sends nothing until you activate a license and switch the menu to Sending

Watch it first.
Then let it send.

In dry run

Without a license it still reads and drafts. Every draft shows under Drafts in the menu. Nothing is sent.

Idle wait

It brings WeChat forward only after 60 seconds without keyboard or mouse input, and never while you're in WeChat. Adjustable.

Reply limits

At most 20 replies per chat per hour and 60 per hour overall. Both adjustable.

Models: DeepSeek by default, Claude if you prefer, always on your own API key

You choose the model.

Default · reachable from mainland China

DeepSeek

New installs use DeepSeek V4.1 Flash; V4 Pro is stronger at about 4× the price. It can search the web but not open pages.

Estimate: about CNY 9–18 a month for a typical user.

Outside mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau

Claude

Opus 5.5 (Claude’s default), Sonnet 5.5, Fable 5.1 and Haiku 5.5. It can search the web and read whole pages. Anthropic doesn’t serve mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau.

Estimate: about CNY 151 (about USD 22) on Sonnet 5.5 to CNY 294 (about USD 44) on Opus 5.5 a month, with prompt caching.

Bring your own · not individually tested

Other endpoints

Kimi, GLM, Qwen and other providers with an Anthropic-compatible API: add the URL, model name and key. These endpoints aren’t individually tested and get no web search.

Model usage isn't included in the license: you use your own API key and pay the provider directly. Meow never handles it. Costs are estimates from the code, not measurements; a typical user gets about 80 one-to-one messages a day plus about 200 a day across 3 followed groups. Settings → Assistant in the app shows this month's estimated cost at list prices. How to get an API key

Card declined? Your bank probably blocks overseas online payments. Use Alipay or WeChat Pay instead.

Prices are in Chinese yuan (CNY). One-time payments; nothing renews automatically. 14-day refund, no questions asked (refund policy). Model usage is not included.

Frequently asked questions

Before you buy.

Could my WeChat account be restricted?

Yes, it could: it operates WeChat for Mac through UI automation, which WeChat's terms don't allow.

WeChat's notice of January 2026 lists “using simulated key presses or automation scripts to control WeChat for auto-replies” as a violation. The app keeps a human pace, caps how much it sends, and never sends bulk messages, adds friends or touches Moments, but none of that guarantees an account won't be restricted. Start with the dry run, and with an account that matters less.

Account safety in full

Does the Mac have to stay on?

Yes.

It works only while the Mac is on and unlocked and WeChat for Mac is logged in. WeChat's window can sit behind other windows, but not minimised or on another desktop. A spare Mac that does nothing else is ideal.

Will people know it's AI?

Yes.

Every reply ends with an AI signature: by default “— Replied by AI assistant” with the app in English, “— AI 助手代回” in Chinese. You can reword it but not remove it: cleared, it falls back to the default. Asked directly, it says it's an AI assistant answering for you.

What does the model cost per month?

Estimated, for a typical user: CNY 9–18 (about USD 1–3) on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, CNY 151 (about USD 22) on Claude Sonnet 5.5 and CNY 294 (about USD 44) on Claude Opus 5.5.

A typical user gets about 80 one-to-one messages a day plus about 200 a day across 3 followed groups. These are estimates from the code, not measurements. The Claude figures assume prompt caching; DeepSeek's range runs from off-peak to peak hours. Busier followed groups cost more.

Settings → Assistant in the app shows this month’s requests, tokens and an estimated cost at list prices.

Can I try it first?

Yes, for as long as you like.

Download it free and it starts in dry run: it reads chats and drafts replies, shows every draft under Drafts in the menu (kept in memory only), and sends nothing. When the drafts look right, buy a license, activate it and switch Dry run to Sending at the bottom of the menu. The dry run uses your own API key.

Where do my messages go?

Only to the model provider you chose, such as DeepSeek or Anthropic. Never through our servers.

What goes: the messages it answers, up to 20 earlier group messages as context, files it reads, and the sender, subject and preview of mail it alerts you about. When you ask it about your contacts, the few it finds go too. Settings, keys, logs and the scanned contacts directory stay on your Mac; the logs record chat names and actions, never message text.

Our license server hears from the app only when it activates, renews or deactivates: the license key, a hash of the device ID, the Mac's name, the platform and the app version. Never chats. Where your data goes
